Have yet to install as the mounting hardware for it was missing with order.
Works great on my enclosed trailer door. Seems very tough and durable. Looking forward to putting it to work
I bought these to replace one on my horse trailer that had lost a screw and fallen off and I’m so disappointed. They work perfectly fine as long as you aren’t moving. Once you start driving and hit a bump the plunger pops out and either the door swings closed or starts flapping around in the wind and you have to pull over to fix it. I had to haul my horse 2.5 hours in the heat last weekend and had to stop at least 5 times to open the doors back up because they kept coming undone. Really wish I’d bought something else instead.

Thank you for your review. This door holder is meant to hold trailer doors open during loading and unloading. This is not supposed to be used to hold doors open on the highway. You can watch our video about the product here:
Very good follow up and updates on my order. Product is exactly what I expected and good heavy duty piece.
Quality is great, install was easy. I do wish etrailer sold the rivets needed to attach this product.

These can be installed with a quarter inch self tapping screws.
I remember seeing this on an old 60's trailer that I camped in as a kid. I currently have a 1990 layton skyline. My door was missing a door holder so I purchased this one. The door I have is very flimsy so this wasn't a very good fit for my door(this door holder requires you to push fairly hard to get the knob in the grommet). I ended up reinforcing my door with some plywood on the inside and bolting this door holder in place through the plywood. The door is still a bit flimsy but this will do the trick.
This is a very well made heavy duty product. However, I installed it on a 46 degree day (which is to be expected on many a camping trip) and the rubber grommet in the female piece is so stiff that I was afraid of actually breaking the door in trying to get it to engage! I am hoping that it will soften up in warmer climes- if not I will ream it out a bit with a drill bit.
Purchased this item a year ago now on my camper to prop the door open. Worked great for about 3 months then the rubber insert seemed to work itself loose every time I un-propped the door the rubber would come with it..I don't no if it was just a malfunction with the single part I ordered or every part but I threw some industrial adhesive I got from work in there and took care of the problem..but, all and all works great for my use
In all my years of working with trailers, these are the absolute best Socket Door Holders I have found! No matter how hard the wind blows, my doors stay open! With this modification I can work from any busy street and not worry about my trailer doors blowing open and hitting a passing car!
I can only give 4 stars because I was sorely disappointed to find that there were no bolts or installayion hardware that came with this item. I mean c'mon, bolts cost pennies. Charge an extra dollar if you have to but include the bolts to install. Show that you care about the customer. Now I have to go out of my way to get bolts from hardware store. The manufacturer should should a little more care for the end user and include mounting hardware.
I have a 1995 Northstar popup camper and this door holder nicely replaced the old broken plastic one. The mounting hole locations were slightly different but I'll fill the unused holes. Thanks etrailer.
Works great. Had a cheap plastic one that broke in a year, this thing will last longer than the rest of the trailer. Just make sure that you mount it with good hardware and into a stud or frame.
Keeps the trailer doors in place during those windy days. No more getting hit by a swinging door. Boy that hurts!

Very good product and very reasonable in price. Now I can leave my door open without it blowing shut. The rubber cap is very strong and very tight fit.

Not sure what this item was originally designed for but I think it was to hold the missle hatch open on a battle ship. Good well made product but would literally hold my RV door open into the wind at 70 miles an hour. Just will not work for what I wanted it for.

Ordering was easy, price was very good and we received the item in just a few days. It is exactly what we needed to secure our trailer door and release it without having to exit the trailer. .

The rubber socket is VERY tight and reuires effort to attach and detach the plunger. It may improve with time.
Have not installed yet, but looks like a good replacement for door holder on my RV.

That is probably because the hardware is not included with this product. You can find the screws at your local hardware store. You will need .25 self tapping screws, like part # FA1131822.
